We always aim for the highest possible standards. So we’re therefore delighted to have been recognised by BRC Global Standards – the most recognised, independently audited standard for food packaging manufacture – with their top “AA” rating.

- Confirmation of RAP’s high standards of quality, safety and hygiene.
- Acknowledgement that we have the materials, premises and processes in place to maintain these standards.

Upgraded from our previous “A” ranking, our latest achievement is confirmation that our intelligent food packaging is produced with the highest hygiene and product safety standards, every time.

We’ve achieved “A” BRC status for a number of years, giving you assurance that our products were safe and suitable for use.

But we weren’t satisfied with that. We wanted you to know that no one is more committed to the highest standards of product safety and hygiene. So here’s how we went about changing things:

- Centralised records of material, product safety and test data, ensuring that all products meet the latest requirements and guidelines.
- Adapted our procedures and practices, including implementing a HACPP manual across all departments to ensure that everyone understands customer expectations.
- Carried out training for the whole team on expected hygiene standards.
- Implemented procedures at our storage and warehousing departments to ensure incoming and outgoing products are protected to minimise chances of contamination.
- Only buying raw materials from accredited suppliers.
- Daily audits by quality department and documented procedures for manufacturing department.
- Upgraded our premises and facilities.

Maintaining this rating in 2017 and beyond

We’re not taking anything for granted though. We’ve reached the highest possible standards, and we’re determined to maintain our “AA” status.

Every year, BRC carry out a detailed audit of our manufacturing facility, retained documents and all our staff, and – in order to keep our ranking – we’ll need to demonstrate that we’re complying with each of the six sections within the standard.

To do so, not only will our systems have to be up to scratch. We’ll have to have records in place to demonstrate that we’ll continue to maintain them.

That’s why we carry out internal audits of each department and the factory infrastructure. As a result, we’re continually monitoring and improving our processes and procedures.

3 Michelin stars for our products and team

John McDermott, Operations Director compares the accolade to a restaurant being awarded 3 Michelin stars: “It’s recognition that we’re delivering the highest quality products and it’s testament to our team of committed experts.

“This is a fantastic achievement and I would like to congratulate the whole team.”

In working towards the AA status, we’ve delivered:

- Improved product safety.
- Reduced production waste.
- The lowest ever number of complaints and returns.

We know it isn’t the done thing to be too self-congratulatory. But we enjoy being the best, and we’re determined to stay that way!

2015 has been a groundbreaking year for RAP, as we continue to be recognised for our simple, clever packaging solutions.

This year, we’re delighted to have picked up a couple of high profile awards, including

- Gold Excellence Award at Pro2Pac for HotRap™

We’ve also been finalists for a raft of other awards, including New Sandwich Product of the Year at the Sammies for our MA Carton Wedge™ and for Innovation of the Year at the UK Packaging Awards 2015 for BagRap™.

Our packaging systems represent some of the most game-changing breakthroughs in fresh food packaging in recent years

This year saw recognition for our trailblazer HotRap™, a unique solution that takes hot food from production to oven to display in one easy process. We’ve also developed the MA Carton Sandwich Wedge, the world’s first hermetically sealed carton food wedge. It delivers the ultimate when it comes to sealing in freshness and protecting from contamination.

Graham Williams, CEO at RAP commented: “The 2015 awards wins are testament to our ongoing investment to develop new features that transform product performance, reduce packaging costs and extend shelf life.”

Julian Money, Founder of RAP, added: “Our commitment to providing pioneering packaging solutions for brands and consumers across the foodservice sector is reflected by the diversity of our 2015 award success.”

RAP will be showcasing a range of specialist foodservice packaging solutions at this year’s lunch! show at the Business Design Centre, London. It includes our new and pioneering MultiRap™.

MultiRap™ is a versatile solution ideal for any meal at any time of day

With a 7.5” x 7.5” square design, MultiRap™ is suitable for both hot and chilled food items such as burgers, toasties, bagels, breakfast rolls, pizza, fries, doughnuts and other sweets.

The sustainable pack combines a grease resistant bag with a wrap-around carbon board to enable easier handling for hot food, so products can be served more quickly.

Designed with the consumer in mind, MultiRap™ also benefits from a tear-off perforated strip to make food easier to consume on the move.

‘Over the last 12 months we’ve invested heavily to develop new features that add value for both brands and consumers,’ said Graham Williams, CEO at RAP.

‘Many of these features are patent-protected, and represent some of the most game-changing breakthroughs in fresh food packaging in recent years. The launch of MultiRap™ is no exception and, alongside our other unbeatable packaging solutions, we now have our most strongest product portfolio to date. The end result is tried and tested solutions that are continuing to push boundaries and deliver a significant transformation for some of Europe’s most well-known retailers, coffee shops and food-to-go outlets.’

MultiRap™ is entered in the event’s Innovation Challenge, so please visit the stand and vote.

As the market leader in food-to-go packaging, we’re always developing new products, many of which represent some of the biggest breakthroughs in fresh food packaging.

We caught up with CEO, Graham Williams as HotRap™ was announced as a finalist in this year’s Pro2Pac Excellence Awards, to find out what you can expect from RAP at Pro2Pac.

We’re delighted to be exhibiting at the forthcoming Pro2Pac event. As the UK’s only packaging exhibition designed for the food and drink sector, it’s one of the major highlights of the packaging industry’s calendar.

We´ll be showing first-hand how our packaging can improve the performance, reduce turnaround times and extend the shelf life of your products.

This year, we’ll be showcasing:

1. MA Carton Sandwich Wedge – the world’s first hermetically sealed carton sandwich pack

Extend the freshness of your chilled products and reduce food waste with high-tech features, including a modified atmosphere process that achieves less than 1% residual oxygen.

2. HotRap™– from manufacture to consumer in one piece of packaging

Reduce the risk of contamination by taking food from manufacture to oven to display in one process. Microwavable and ovenable up to 220°C, it’s perfect for hot food-to-go products such as panini and toasties.

See first-hand how our clever packaging solutions can benefit your business

The RAP team will be on hand to discuss your packaging requirements and talk you through how our products can help you overcome challenges and, ultimately, improve performance.

Joining me on the stand will be Julian Money, RAP’s founder, Benn Ely, our Head of FoodService, and the rest of the team.

We look forward to seeing you there.
