With the leadership of our local team unchanged and with the prospect of greater involvement and support in product offering and leading innovation from RPC Group, we are now perfectly poised to offer new global technological solutions and access to a broader product offering.

This coming together of one of the largest plastic packaging manufacturers in the world, with our local industry leader in South Africa, gives birth to RPC Astrapak and holds immense new synergy for our customers.

Small is beautiful for new closure

A new 19mm tube closure from RPC Zeller Plastik Zell is the first standard push-on flip-top hinge tube closure (HTC) of such a small size. Aimed at cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, the new-size polypropylene closure extends RPC Zeller’s existing Supersoft range with a solution that offers both aesthetic and consumer-convenience benefits.

RPC Astrapak Thermopac retains BRC status

RPC Astrapak Thermopac has retained their BRC status after a recent audit was conducted at their Western Cape plant. The audit result translated to an AA rating although the final score is to be verified by SAI Global (auditing firm).

Where maximum branding and shelf life meet like never before

SuperLock is by far one the most exciting innovations to be added to RPC Astrapak's growing range of market leading products and presents a very low Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR). Allowing for both hot and cold content filling, the product is virtually limitless in its applications offering ambient temperature shelf life to a broad range of food products with a long shelf life. The secret to this advanced shelf preservation is the combination of an oxygen barrier on all surfaces with a membrane seal, offering a powerful sealable container.

Food grade systems tick the right boxes

The surveillance audit recently conducted at RPC Astrapak Consupaq is part of maintaining the facility’s food safety certification, FSSC 22000. The food safety certificate is valid for three years, followed by two surveillance audits in year four and five.

Having experienced first-hand the transition of a global company acquiring a South African business, Ms. Buthelezi is well equipped to deal with the tasks at Astrapak when the RPC transition comes into effect. “The integration into a new organisation has its challenges, and the experience I have will assist me during this process.”
