Film lamination has long been one of the most popular and cost effective methods in the packaging industry providing durability, high gloss, scuff resistance and crack prevention. As well as these advantages to the packaging quality, film lamination can also be used to enhance packaging using a range of films including silk, matte, soft touch as well as gloss and anti-scuff.

Film lamination can be done in conjunction with foiling (pre-lamination) and die cutting, creasing, embossing and debossing as well as several other finishes (all post lamination).

Due to the growth in demand for film lamination from our customers, we (Saxon Packaging), recently invested in a Paperplast Dry 70 Thermal Film Laminator allowing us to bring this process in-house.

“We reached the threshold where the amount we were spending on subbing out film lamination meant we could now bring the process in house giving us more control over the process, reduce lead times and reduce costs” said Andy Smith, General Manager of Saxon Packaging.

The Paperplast Dry 70 Thermal Film Laminator uses 200 – 300 degree heat to meld the film and substrate, and typically the film we are using on our customers packaging is either 22 or 27 microns in thickness.

“We now have greater capacity to cope with our every growing volume of litho printed packaging as well as attracting litho film lamination trade requirements” Andy continued.

Saxon Packaging have been going from strength to strength in the corrugated packaging industry over the last 30 years and continue to build and refine their capabilities offering high quality gift packaging as well as traditional brown box packaging.
