PACKAGING Innovations 2015 at the NEC in Birmingham proved a huge success, with our range of nylon packaging solutions in particular generating a huge level of interest.

The show – which ran from February 25-26 and incorporates Contract Pack and Eco Pack – is the UK’s largest packaging show, and focuses on developments across the supply chain.

Jeremy Haydn-Davies, sales director, said: “Packaging Innovations was a very busy show, and proved to be the perfect place for us to show-off some of our latest developments.

“Our Siralon product range, a range of nylon blends offering endless possibilities, proved to be a big draw. Nylon is such a versatile material, that we had many varied enquiries.

“In particular we had a number of enquiries in relation to our nylon slow-cooker liners and pan-liners, but also for nylon bags for roasting meat – nylon is perfect for this use.

“However, we also had a number of enquiries for non-food applications of nylon. These include hot-oil disposal – another great use of nylon – and chemical transportation.”

Nylon is an incredibly versatile material – it offers high temperature resistance, comes in many different blends and thicknesses, and is a very pleasant material to handle. Nylon is also a very clean material – so can be used for sterilisation – and can be filled hot.

“Nylon products include Bitumen Bags for filling with hot bitumen and transporting cold, and Solvent Recovery/Distillation Bags,” said Simon Balderson, Sirane MD. “Because of its properties, nylon can also be used with great effect for processes such as roasting spices and breadcrumbs, and in industrial food processing applications such as lining large vats.”

Our nylon slow-cooker liners are sold as part of our Thinking-Cooking range as are our nylon roasting bags. A newer addition to our food packaging range is our nylon pan liners for use in catering, available in a wide range of sizes to fit all standard sizes used commercially.

Sirane also exhibited our new Dri-fresh Soft-Hold pads, which combine the cushioning and protective properties of bubble films with effective absorbency, high permeability and excellent product presentation, and are perfect for protecting soft fruit.

“Soft fruit is often transported huge distances globally,” said Gillian Carter, “and so protecting the fruit is vital. The more fruit that arrives at its destination in perfect condition, the better it is for everyone involved in the supply chain, as far less fruit gets wasted.

“Sirane can offer the ultimate protection, cushioned protection alongside absorbency – we can even integrate ethylene absorbency and anti-fungal options if required. A number of visitors to the stand loved the product, and could see the difference it could make.”

Manufacturing absorbent materials is one of Sirane specialisms, and another absorbent product – BenchGuard® Advanced – was also on show at Packaging Innovations 2015.

BenchGuard® Advanced offers the ultimate bench protection for laboratories, hospitals, surgeries and other clinical environments where high absorbency and sterile surface protection is required. It has a highly absorbent surface and an effective liquid barrier layer to ensure that spillages are contained and protect the work surface.

Jonathan Mason, business development manager, said: “BenchGuard® Advanced is an absorbent, impermeable faced cellulosic fabric suitable for protection of laboratory benches and similar surfaces from spillage. It proved very popular with many visitors.”

Sirane also introduced an additional product in our Medical & Healthcare range – further information on this innovative disinfection system will be announced very soon.
