Beached opts for a recycled custom solution from Spectra

Beauty, Personal Care, Primary Packaging, Active, Smart Packaging, Plastic, Eco Sensitive, 10 - 99.99 ml

Spectra Packaging recently created new environmentally friendly packs for the Beached range of face, body and hair products. The new range takes full advantage of Spectra's custom moulding as well as standard packaging capabilities in 100% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) HDPE.

Conceived by Australian native Meg Gallagher, the natural, cruelty-free beauty brand has been designed to encourage women to rethink beauty and embrace a more natural look.

Launched in May this year, the new Beached range features three key products for face, body and hair.

The Bondi Bum natural body firmer and Urban Waves natural hair texturiser packs show off Spectra's custom tooling expertise with both packs featuring an ergonomic pebble-like profile.

The eye-catching design perfectly illustrates what can be achieved with expert extrusion blow moulding according to Alex Beveridge, one of Spectra's Field Sales Representatives.

He said, "We've witnessed increasing numbers of brands like Beached turn to extrusion blow moulded options thanks to the processes excellent flexibility. The process is hugely attractive for customers looking for more elaborate and challenging designs for their bottles and the Beached custom tooled pack is tangible proof of that".

Additionally, the Beached Rays for Days natural bronzer serum utilises Spectra's popular 50ml tubular design (ref: 6002) from their extensive range of standard designs. As well as the flexibility to achieve complex shapes, extrusion blow moulding is also very well suited for using high levels of recycled materials. Indeed, Beached chose to take full advantage of this benefit by using 100% post-consumer content to boast a genuinely environmentally friendly product.

Alex went on to add, "Extrusion blow moulded PCR provides an excellent option for brands such as Beached to illustrate their environmental credentials without compromising the quality of their packaging. In the current climate, the circular benefits of recycled materials is a compelling proposition for many brands".

Beached also opted for Spectra's exact match colouring expertise to achieve bright bold blue and red packs, despite the use of recycled plastics.

Spectra's dedicated in house decoration department finished off the packs with complementary two-pass silk screen printing. The Bondi Bum natural body firmer was also augmented with a one of Spectra's flip-top caps from their impressive range of injection moulded closures.

Meg Gallagher from Beached commented, “I first spoke to Spectra about my project two years before we actually launched the business and their team were knowledgeable, helpful and patient throughout the whole process. We've ended up with a range of bottles that are eye-catching, eco-friendly and fit through the letterbox. We couldn't be happier with the result."

Our long-term desire has always been to reduce virgin material levels in our products, encouraging our customers to embrace Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) content. To back up this desire, we continue to put solid and robust supply chains in place to support customer demand. Since then, we have seen more and more customers appreciate the environmental benefits of recycled content in their packaging, with many taking levels beyond 10%, in many instances as high as 100%.
