Bosch Packaging Technology, a leading supplier of processing and packaging technology, expands its expertise in the non-aseptic packaging process for pharmaceuticals.

Following the introduction of the Sigpack TTMP topload cartoner for pharmaceutical products, the company now adds two further machines to its portfolio: the Sigpack VPF vertical flat pouch machine and the horizontal flow wrapping machine Sigpack HML. “Our new machines ideally complement the portfolio of Bosch Packaging Technology.

We offer our customers from the pharmaceutical industry reliable and efficient solutions from a single source that can cover the entire production and packaging process,” says Dr Christian Walti, general manager at the Bosch Packaging Technology site in Beringen. New powder solution offers high flexibility The new vertical flat pouch machine Sigpack VPF was developed especially for the packaging of powders. Pain killers in powder form are amongst the products typically filled into sachets.

Thanks to the innovative sealing technology from Bosch, the machine produces hermetically sealed packages, which safely protect the product. The VPF allows manufacturers to flexibly expand their sachet production by up to twelve lanes.

The pouch size can also be quickly and easily adapted according to customer requirements. Thanks to the high dosing accuracy and excellent sealing properties, the machine can produce and fill up to 1 500 sachets per minute precisely and at the highest quality.

In September 2016, the Sigpack VPF received the German Packaging Award from the German Packaging Institute (DVI) in the category packaging machinery. The Sigpack HMUL or HML is available either with ultrasonic or heat sealing technology. “The new flow wrapping machine achieves an output of between 200 and 350 products per minute and is suited for the hermetic packaging of various pharmaceutical products such as vial cards or inhalers.

The open machine design enables a quick line clearance, thus ensuring high process safety,” says Daniel Bossel, head of product management at Bosch Packaging Technology. Flexible solutions for complete lines from a single source With the expanded machine portfolio, Bosch now offers packaging solutions for every production step from a single source – for example for the treatment of diabetes.

Insulin can be produced with bioreactors from Bosch, subsequently filled into cartridges and assembled to insulin pens on further Bosch equipment. CIP/SIP cleaning systems and sterilization equipment can also be integrated into the production process. With the new machine range, manufacturers now also have the possibility to hermetically package the insulin pens into flow wraps.

End-of-line solutions such as the Sigpack TTMP cartoner round off Bosch’s line competence. “The modular design of our machines enables manufacturers to individually equip their production lines and add further Bosch equipment. For instance, serialization solutions make each step traceable – from the single pack right through to pallets,” explains Walti. “This way, our customers receive a consistent, user-friendly concept for their entire packaging process."

Bosch presents the world's first sealed paper packaging

Bosch Packaging Technology and BillerudKorsnäs developed the world's first Sealed Paper Packaging. Instead of using polymer film, a new solution enables production of dust-tight packaging for dry products such as sugar, grains, flour or powders using sustainable mono-material paper, which contains no additional polymer fractions. As a result, retailers and consumers profit from clean shelves, high product protection and improved product quality.
