It is designed to prepare surfaces prior to the applications of Visqueen self adhesive membranes and Visqueen TorchOn Tanking Membrane.
| Storage and Handling Visqueen HP Tanking Primer should be stored upright, undercover and in its original packaging. Store away from any sources of ignition at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C.
To avoid the risk of spillage, always store and transport in a secure upright position. The unopened product has a minimum shelf life of 24 months.
Use in a well ventilated space away from any sources of ignition. Keep the container closed when not in use.
Care should be taken when handling the product in line with current manual handling regulations.
| Preparation Inspect concrete surfaces for honeycombed areas and holes, if required bag-rub any irregularities or fill the surface with a suitable filler such as 3:1 mortar mix. All surfaces should be frost free, dry, smooth, clean, and free from oils, grease, condensation and other contamination. Remove areas of laitance.
Concrete substrates must be cured for a minimum 7 days prior to primer application.
| Installation Visqueen HP Tanking Primer can be applied directly from the tin using a brush, or transferred to another suitable container and then applied by roller. Do not pour directly onto the surface.
Apply one coat of Visqueen HP Tanking Primer at a coverage of 6 - 8m² per litre depending on the porosity of the surface. The primer will dry in 2 - 8 hours depending upon temperature and the primer should be covered by the membrane within 24 hours.

| Usage Visqueen Zedex DPC Surface Fixing System is designed for use with surface fixed DPC cavity trays and Preformed Units supplied by Visqueen. Please note that separate surface fixing products are available for Visqueen Zedex Non-Combustible Damp Proof Course, Visqueen Zedex Non-Combustible Flexi Preformed Units and Visqueen Non-Combustible Preformed Units. | |
| Storage and Handling Visqueen Zedex DPC Surface Fixing System products should be stored in a warm, dry and clean environment in their original packaging.
Care should be taken when handling the products in line with current manual handling regulations.
| Preparation Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and free from sharp protrusions. | |
| Installation Masonry substrates e.g. concrete, brickwork, blockwork.
When surface fixing to the cavity face of a masonry inner leaf substrate, prime a 100mm band of the substrate at the appropriate height with Visqueen HP Tanking Primer and allow to dry. Apply a continuous strip of Visqueen 100mm Double Sided Butyl Tape to the primed substrate and bond the vertical flange of the cavity tray to the tape. Roller to ensure an effective bond. Secure the surface fixed cavity tray in position with Visqueen Zedex Fixing Strip and Visqueen Zedex Fixing Pins for Masonry.
In order to install Visqueen Zedex Fixing Pins for Masonry, drill a 6.5mm diameter by 50mm deep hole into the substrate. Insert the fixing pin and tap the central plastic nail firmly home into the fixing pin. The fixing pin will expand giving a secure grip into the substrate. Progressively repeat the process for each hole in the fixing strip.
Timber or weather defence board substrates.
When surface fixing to timber frame or the weather defence boards of lightweight structural framing systems, follow the above procedure but replace the fixing pins with suitable stainless steel fixings appropriate for the substrate.
Insulation substrates.
When surface fixing to the rigid urethane foam insulation of a SFS substrate, apply a continuous strip of Visqueen 100mm Double Sided Butyl Tape to the substrate and bond the vertical flange of the cavity tray to the jointing tape. Roller to ensure an effective bond. Secure the surface fixed cavity tray in position with Visqueen Zedex Fixing Strip and Visqueen Zedex Fixing Pins for Insulation.
In order to install Visqueen Zedex Fixing Pins for Insulation, form a pilot hole using a bradawl or similar prior to inserting the fixing pin. Progressively repeat the process for each hole in the fixing strip.
| Usable temperature range It is recommended that the Visqueen Zedex DPC Surface Fixing System should be installed above 5°C. | |
| Additional information Visqueen Preformed Units are available for complex or awkward junctions of the cavity tray e.g. internal corners, external corners, changes of level, etc.

| Usage Visqueen Zedex Housing Grade Damp Proof Course is designed for residential buildings up to and including 3 storeys high. The DPC is suitable for installation in internal walls to prevent rising damp. The DPC is also suitable for installation in external cavity walls with a masonry outer leaf, including walls with a light gauge steel frame, structural timber frame or masonry inner leaf. The DPC can be site formed into built-in or surface fixed cavity trays to manage the downward passage of water in cavity wall applications. The DPC can also be used on sleeper walls below a ground floor construction e.g. beam and block floor system. | |
| Storage and Handling Visqueen Zedex Housing Grade Damp Proof Course should be stored vertically, under cover in its original packaging.
Care should be taken when handling the product in line with current manual handling regulations.
| Preparation The Visqueen Zedex Housing Grade Damp Proof Course can be cut with a sharp retractable safety knife or robust scissors. | |
| Installation DPCs and DPC cavity trays systems to be designed and installed in accordance with the relevant sections of BS 8215:1991, PD 6697:2019 and BS 8000-3:2020.
When built into a masonry wall construction Visqueen Zedex Housing Grade Damp Proof Course should be installed on an even bed of wet mortar, and any perforations in adjacent courses of masonry should be completely filled with mortar. To ensure mortar adhesion, as soon as possible after laying the DPC, lay at least one further course of masonry including a bed of mortar. If positioned on the sleeper walls below a suspended ground floor e.g. beam and block floor system, the DPC can be dry laid, however all sharp protrusions must be removed from the substrate. The DPC must extend through the full thickness of the masonry wall, including pointing, applied rendering or other facing materials.
When used as a site formed cavity tray, the DPC can be either built-in to the inner leaf or surface fixed to the cavity face of the inner leaf.
When surface fixing the cavity tray, the substrate should be primed with Visqueen HP Tanking Primer and allowed to dry. The DPC should be bonded to the inner leaf using Visqueen 100mm Double Sided Butyl Tape and permanently secured using Visqueen Fixing Strip and fixings suitable for the substrate. Visqueen Fixing Pins for the rigid urethane foam insulation of a SFS substrate, and fixing pins for a masonry substrate are available.
When using a hammer tacker to secure the DPC to an OSB3 substrate of a timber frame construction, minimum 8mm shank austenitic stainless steel staples should be used at minimum 150mm centres.
To simplify complex or awkward junctions e.g. corners, changes of level, arch windows etc, an extensive range of Visqueen Preformed Units are available.
All DPC to DPC laps and DPC to Visqueen Preformed Unit laps should be a minimum of 100mm and bonded with Visqueen 100mm Double Sided Butyl Tape.
| Usable temperature range It is recommended that Visqueen Zedex Housing Grade Damp Proof Course and all associated system components should not be installed below 5°C. | |
| Additional information Where a high performance DPC is required e.g for commercial or multi storey constructions, use Visqueen Zedex CPT High Performance Damp Proof Course.
Where a gas DPC conforming to the specification requirements of BS 8485:2015 + A1:2019 is required, use Visqueen Ultimate Gas Damp Proof Course.
For built-in internal and external corners Visqueen Preformed Corner Units should be used see PFU-553 (90° unit) or PFU-501 (sloping unit).
For surface fixed internal and external corners Visqueen Preformed Corner Units should be used see PFU-554 (90° unit) or PFU-502 (sloping unit).
