Rexam, one of the leading global beverage can makers, has been recognised once again for its world-class operations. The Shingo Institute, which runs an internationally recognised award scheme for operational excellence, has accredited two of Rexam’s sites for continued improvements to operational efficiency.

The beverage can plant in Enzesfeld, Austria, becomes Rexam’s first European plant to receive the accreditation with a silver medallion. Rexam’s South American headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, has become the first corporate office in the world to be recognised by The Shingo Institute, receiving a bronze medallion.

Graham Chipchase, Rexam Chief Executive, says: “The Shingo Institute shares our philosophy that world-class business performance can be achieved through focused improvements in core manufacturing and business processes. Our sites are regularly assessed under our own audit programme, but it’s fantastic to receive this wider recognition through The Shingo Institute.”

The two sites join five other Rexam plants who have already achieved Shingo accreditation, with a number of other sites currently being assessed by the Institute.
