Ball scored yet another success in its overall sustainability efforts, now ranking among the top 1 percent of the 150 suppliers assessed within the fabricated metal category based on the EcoVadis sustainability rating platform.
EcoVadis, founded in 2007, was designed to assess the sustainability policies, actions and reporting of suppliers across 95 countries in the categories of environmental issues, labour practices and human rights, fair business practices and sustainable procurement issues. These assessments serve as a tool in helping companies better understand the sustainability performance of their suppliers and in turn, potentially influence future business decisions.
Ball's latest score of 75 now ranks it highly compared to a group/peer average score of 41.5. In addition, across all suppliers being evaluated (approximately 20,000-25,000 worldwide), Ball was ranked among the top 5 percent performers and thus takes home yet another gold rating.
In the Environment category of the report, Ball increased its rating from 80 to 90 points, with 100 being the maximum. Compared to last year, Ball also improved performance in Fair Business Practices and Sustainable Procurement, increasing both from 50 to 60 points. With regards to Labour Practices, Ball continued to maintain its high rating of 80.
"This year's exciting results prove that Ball is the right supplier for our customers while furthering our overall credibility", said Dr. Johanna Klewitz, sustainability manager at Ball.
The details of the EvoVadis report serve as an important indicator of Ball's sustainability performance, as it reflects a broad range of the actions undertaken by Ball's European plants as well as those initiatives instituted on a global scale.
"We strive to continuously improve our thinking and how we approach sustainability at Ball", said Klewitz. "These findings give us a good indication of areas where we can improve even further, not just for the next assessment in April 2016, but as we move forward as a thoughtful partner to our customers."
