Specialist wild mushroom and forest fruits in syrup processor Borde, based in Saugues, Haute Loire, France, is updating its range of red fruits with new multilayer packaging from RPC Containers Corby.

All eight varieties - raspberries, blueberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, cranberries, redcurrants, red fruits and cherries – are being packed in RPC's one litre Classic jars with new labels that make the fruit the focal point.

The attractive and practical jars feature a PP/EVOH/PP construction to provide effective product protection against oxygen ingress and give an ambient shelf life of up to 18 months while at the same time conserving the taste, aroma and qualities of the fruit. The packaging preserves all the organoleptic qualities of the products and can reproduce the flavours of the fruit.

The contact clear surface helps to maximize the on-shelf appeal of the carefully-selected colourful fruits. This is complemented by the eye-catching clean-cut label design, featuring a new logo, which ensures high visibility of the products and emphasises their quality and freshness.

The jars feature a wide mouth for easy spooning and pouring with a 80mm closure supplied by RPC Halstead. Their lightweight, easy handling and high resistance to breakage make them ideal for busy kitchen environments.

A family-business now in its third generation, Borde is the market leader in woodland mushrooms (wild mushrooms foraged by hand) with products supplied to both restaurants and consumers throughout France and worldwide. Its red fruits range – produced with the same expertise in sourcing and preserving the finest products – offers a delicious choice of berries delectable on their own, as the perfect accompaniment to ice-cream, yoghurt or curd cheese, and as the filling for tarts and puddings. They are also an ideal topping for pies and desserts of all kinds.

Pierre Rasse, marketing director at Borde explains:

"We wanted a packaging solution that conveyed our heritage and expertise while creating a distinctive individual identity for our red fruits. As part of this the packs had to be attractive, practical and ensure the high quality of the fruits was protected and maintained. The Classic jars have exactly met our brief to reflect the premium nature of this gourmet range."
