CCL Industries has signed the Global Commitment to the New Plastics Economy led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to drive change through active partnerships and support a more circular economy.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation launched in 2010 to accelerate the transition to a circular economy: designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems. Since its creation, the charity emerged as a global thought leader on the circular economy keeping it on the agenda of decision makers across business, government and academia.

President and CEO Geoff Martin is “very pleased to announce, that CCL Industries has signed the Global Commitment to the New Plastics Economy led by the Ellen MacArthur foundation. This is a milestone on our journey towards making the company a sustainability leader in our industry with responsible supply chain operations and innovative products for customers and consumers globally.”

The New Plastics Economy is part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, a circular vision for plastic in which it never becomes waste. In 2018 the New Plastics Economy launched The Global Commitment as business and government pioneer changes in how we produce, use, and reuse plastic. It has already mobilised over 450 signatories determined to start building a circular economy for plastic including companies representing 20% of all plastic packaging consumed globally.

Supporting Positive Change

The right label as well as other packaging products and solutions support Design for Recycling and make a difference when it comes to circularity.

CCL strives to drive change through active relationships. This is why CCL is partnering up with different associations and key initiatives of the industries and is looking forward to collaborate with customers and other stakeholders, thus „Enlabeling Sustainability“.

“The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment unites businesses, governments and others behind a clear vision of a circular economy for plastic. We are pleased CCL Industries are joining us, by setting concrete 2025 targets. Our vision is for a world where plastic never becomes waste or pollution. It will be a challenging journey, but by coming together we can eliminate the plastics we don’t need and innovate, so the plastics we do need can be safely and easily circulated – keeping them in the economy and out of the environment.” – Sander Defruyt, Lead of the New Plastics Economy initiative at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
