Idemitsu Unitech began in September 1964 with the establishment of Idemitsu Petrochemical Co., Ltd., the petrochemicals segment of Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. It began with the business of development and sale of processed resin products in order to support resin sales business. Then, as the business grew, the manufacturing subsidiary Uni Kako Co., Ltd. was established in January 1984. This resulted in the establishment of an integrated manufacturing and sales structure consisting of Idemitsu Petrochemical´’s plastic products sales business and UniKako´s resin processing business.
The establishment of Idemitsu Unitech Co., Ltd. took this structure one step further, by consolidating these two businesses into a single new independent company that would handle all aspects of the development, manufacture, and sale of processed resin products.
