International Dairy Federation (IDF)

IDF is the only organization representing the entire dairy value chain at a global level.While IDF working groups cover a wide range of areas of expertise, four focus areas, seen as essential to achieve IDF’s vision, provide a common focus for the IDF work programme:

Good nutrition, in turn, depends on agriculture to provide the foods for a balanced diet that meets our needs for energy and essential nutrients like protein, vitamins and minerals.

To achieve this goal, stakeholders from agriculture, industry, academia and government will have to collaborate to identify practical, sustainable interventions to safeguard the health and well-being of our global population – now and in the future..

IDF proactively contributes to the development of science-based globally harmonised standards, guidelines, codes of practice and related methodologies across all working areas, to continually improve regulatory environments for the dairy sector. It does this through proactively engaging with key international organisations and inﬂuencers such as the international food standards setting body Codex Alimentarius and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). IDF also identiﬁes knowledge gaps, prioritising its activities, proposing solutions and seeking a consensus on these..
