Our success is deeply rooted in the past, and it's the result of over 60 years of experience in the business.
In 1949, Enrica Maestri and Cesare Barone founded ISEM in Vigevano. ISEM stands for: Industria Scatole e Manufatti (Boxes and Manufacturing Company). We started our operations producting carton boxes for the local community of shoemakers. Later, the company expanded its operations by adding the production of boxes for shirt makers, home accessories and table games. We soon become one of the biggest and more solid companies of the region.
In the 70s and 80, boxes become the vehicle of emotion and high class design. For this reason we turned to the production of giftsets for parfumery and cosmetics. Therefore, we greatly invested in the purchase of new machinery and innovative printing tools.
In 2000 ISEM introduced the production of folding cartons. A few years later, we purchased La Poligrafica Srl, a company based in the Varese area specialised in the creation of paper and carton folding boxes. La Poligrafica's operations were moved to our Vigevano headquarters. Due to the growing request of multinational companies of the luxury business, of which the majority were based in France - Coty Lancaster, Clarins and L'Oréal to name just a few, we opened an office in Paris. In June 2008, a Private Equity Fund, APEP, purchased the majority stakes of the company who turns from a purely family business into a modern industrial reality.
