In recent years, the Lombardi Design and Manufacturing team has been able to hone its expertise in design, engineering and manufacturing into sustainable packaging solutions for its customers. Lombardi has been able to not only offer practical solutions but expert guidance to brands for meeting their own sustainable goals.
The company’s high sustainable standards were recognized by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification in February 2021, awarding the company the ISCC plus.
This certification provides traceability along the supply chain and verifies that companies meet environmental and social standards. This will allow LDM to purchase chemically re-engineered materials and convert them into packaging certified by ISCC, creating traceability /chain of custody within a global supply chain.
These chemically re-engineered materials are ideal for Lombardi, as it is a step closer to achieving a circular economy. Furthermore, the process produces higher-value products due to the absence of resin degradation, delivering a result similar to virgin resin. These sustainable resin materials are easily manipulated to produce high-quality packaging for brands that are also environmentally conscious.
Lombardi currently offers plastic injection molding for a wide range of resins supported by the certification including, All Eastman Renew© Materials and Sabic PBT. As well as other sustainable resins including PCR PP, PCR ABS, Ocean Bound PET and PCR PET.
In addition to the innovative use of re-engineered materials, Lombardi goes one step further in reducing an overall project’s carbon footprint as the manufacturing facility itself runs on 85% renewable energy.
