Last year, MENSHEN again set up bee colonies at its German locations and sold the honey produced from them for a good cause. The proceeds from the employee sale amounting to over 1,400 euros were topped up by MENSHEN. The proceeds will once again benefit the Balthasar children’s and youth hospice in Olpe. During an on-site visit, company representatives from the MENSHEN management, together with the works council, presented a cheque for a total of 2,500 euros to the facility’s director Roland Penz.

“Especially in difficult times, we are even more dependent on external help and donations to be able to help seriously ill children and their families. We are therefore very pleased that MENSHEN is supporting us again. The Balthasar Children’s and Youth Hospice is investing the donation in the redesign of the memorial spiral in the garden. There, the families place engraved stones with the names of the deceased young people every year on Balthasar Memorial Day and can always return to this special place of remembrance,” says Penz.

For MENSHEN, it is essential to support regional and sustainable projects. Bees contribute significantly to the pollination of our wild and cultivated plants. Since autumn 2020, the MENSHEN locations in Finnentrop, Plettenberg-Kahley, and Sundern-Hagen have each had a colony of bees, which are in good hands thanks to the professional care of a beekeeper “The honey project thus makes a small contribution to the environment. At the same time, as a large employer and instructor in the region, we are all the more pleased that MENSHEN colleagues have once again purchased the Sauerland flower juice in such large numbers and are thus supporting an important social project,” says Jochen Mahrenholtz, Managing Director of MENSHEN.
