Obeikan MDF will invest 140 million euros in its new factory in Alzira

The company, which is dedicated to the production of packaging for the food industry, has begun the construction of its second factory in Spain. It’s first factory is located in Canet d’en Berenguer, Valencia.

The President of the Generalitat, Alberto Fabra, and the Mayoress of Alzira, Elena Bastidas, presided over the ceremony of placing  the first stone in Alzira, on the 24 of October 2013.

The packaging company Obeikan MDF, part of the Obeikan Group and dedicated to the production of packaging for the food and agricultural industry, will invest 140 million euros in its new factory in Alzira. This will be the second factory in Spain and also within the Valencian Autonomy, as the first factory site is in Canet d’en Berenguer.

Obeikan MDF is aiming for the first phase of the new facility to be completed in 2015 and the second in 2018. The group estimates that the new factory, which will have a built area of  ​​34,000 square meters,  will be fully operational in 2020, when it will have a productive capacity of 200 million packages per year. The factory will create about 250 jobs, both directly and indirectly.

Since 2007 when Obeikan MDF began producing MDF wooden packaging (medium density fibre) in Canet d'en Berenguer, the company has grown to  having a turnover of 6 million euros in 2012. The increasing demand and the need to cater for foreign markets has created the requirement to expand its productive capacity with a new facility that will have the most innovative technology.

Obeikan’s Success is based on the characteristics of its product, explained Abdallah. "Our offer covers the entire range of product sizes along with solutions to customer needs in a high quality segment," he added. With this philosophy, Obeikan MDF has developed innovative packaging with added value, both in quality and design, which allows its customers to guarantee the transport of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Foreign markets

Along with the qualities of its product, there is also the fact that the assembly can be  served disassembled, representing an important savings in logistics. In fact, Obeikan MDF from Valencia serves more than 25 countries on five continents. Not only is the packaging  present in the major European markets, but also in the United States, Chile, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Australia and China.
Obeikan will undertake the construction of its new plant in Alzira, with the objective of having the necessary productive capacity to meet this growing demand abroad and as such the factory is intended mainly for foreign markets.
