The company Pytheas seafood operates in the field of manufacture, processing and marketing of seafood in Greece and abroad.

The company is headquartered in Athens, within the premises of “Psygeia Evropis” (European Refrigerators), and at the same time it maintains a factory for the production and processing of high quality white fish roe, production of smoked seafood and salted fish processing line in Evvoia. The products of the company constitute an essential ingredient of Mediterranean and traditional Greek food (wet salted cod, fish roe, smoked seafood) and are exported to countries in Europe, America and Oceania.

The fundamental founding purpose of Pytheas seafood, which differentiates it from its competition, is the ongoing leadership in the industry. This is achieved through continuous investment in modern technological equipment and the application of best quality control procedures by experienced & qualified staff of food engineers & chemists, based on the highest international safety and hygiene standards and focusing exclusively on very high quality raw materials.

The company belongs to the Lymperopoulos family and two Icelandic groups in the field of fishing and production of seafood, the companies Visir and Thorbjorn.

The Lymperopoulos Family has been for almost 50 consecutive years professionally engaged in the import, processing and marketing of quality seafood from Iceland and Norway. The grandfather of the family, Konstantinos Lymperopoulos, started in the early 60’s a long trip to Iceland and Norway where he met many producers and traders of salted cod and fish roe. Today the company continues its close cooperation with Icelandic producers with the aim to broaden the presence of their seafood in the Greek market.

Pytheas the Massalian (Pytheas, c. 380 – c. 310 B.C.), perhaps the leading ancient Greek navigator and explorer, discovered on his journey the most important fishing grounds in the world, Iceland.

Therefore, in a sense, his achievement constitutes the imaginary bridge between two very important sites, Greece and Iceland.
