ULMA Packaging Ltd, the leading packaging machinery and complete automated lines supplier, has boosted its UK workforce with another sales appointment, which coincides with the launch of the exciting ultrasonic sealing Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) machine.

The international firm is confident that its recruitment plans, coupled with the new machinery, will help the company further improve its presence in key markets, such as fresh produce, and break into new ones as the UK economy adjusts to Brexit.

Steve Brooks takes up the position of VFFS Business Manager to spearhead this commercial strategy. He brings a wealth of experience in the international packaging industry and automation-specific projects to ULMA’s UK operations. Steve will help drive sales of its technically advanced vertical equipment into a wider range of market sectors.

ULMA’s UK Managing Director, Chris Pickles, said: “The investment in sales expertise goes hand in hand with an expanding product portfolio which will help continue the growth the company has enjoyed over the past years. This puts us in an excellent position to meet demand from both new and established markets, especially in automation and for our versatile range of high-quality vertical sealing equipment.”

Steve added: “I’m delighted to have joined such a go-ahead company as ULMA. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be in charge of growing ULMA’s vertical range of packaging equipment in the UK. ULMA’s background is a great selling point to our customers as is the high quality of the machines.

“Because the company is part of a multi-faceted co-operative which is totally committed to the Global Packaging Machinery marketplace, it provides great stability and fantastic after-sales support for customers, which I consider very important in a fast changing industry.”

VFFS equipment can help companies optimise their packaging to combat consumer food waste and improve pack presentation. ULMA’s systems can boost productivity for food processors by reducing format changing times and cleaning regimes.

In addition to single equipment, ULMA can also bring together stand-alone packaging machinery with the automation side of the business to provide customers with one single point of technical and sales contact. This means that ULMA customers can now be offered one of the largest packaging solution choices available anywhere in the UK.

Innovative packaging technology – backed up by ULMA’s complete spares and service support – offers the food industry equipment and fully integrated solutions that are highly productive and efficient to meet the growing demand from retailers for extended shelf life, great commercial visibility and speed to market.

ULMA packaging’s new ‘Tight Bag’ technology will revolutionise packing across many industries

ULMA Packaging Ltd has the solution to overcome many of the issues that have hampered the food industry caused by excess air in the bag. The company has developed a revolutionary VFFS Air Extraction System (Tight Bag) to tackle excess air in the bag which often leads to bigger boxes resulting in fewer packs per pallet. To get over this challenge many manufacturers will make a hole or micro perforations in the bag, but when the product is stored for long periods this can result in the food becoming tainted.
