Walki Group is a leading, international producer of technical laminates and protective packaging materials, specialising in the production of fibre based, intelligent, multilaminate products for markets as diverse as energy saving facings and construction membranes to barrier packaging applications.
Our production facilities are located in Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK, Russia and China. Walki’s annual net sales amount to 300 million Euros and the company has a workforce of about 900 people.
Everything we do is strongly rooted in our knowledge of technical multilaminates. We produce a number of specialist energy saving and intelligent laminates used in the construction industry, the steel industry and for various industrial packaging. The list of our developments is long, containing examples like Walki®4E, a ground-breaking technology for producing flexible circuit boards efficiently and sustainably, enabling conductivity in almost any material, and Walki®Biomass Cover, a paper-based protection material that increases the energy value of logging residue.
Our expertise in multilaminates is also crucial for developing solutions for flexible packaging applications as well as for barrier board and lining materials for the solid case and corrugated industry. Specialist barrier coated and laminated materials are used to protect packed products, reduce waste and improve functionality of the finished pack, for example, by using easy open tear-strip features.
For the paper industry we produce specialist products such as wrappers for paper industry reels, including reel end discs, and printed wrappers for A4 and A3 cut size and folio reams.
Adding value and providing protection - Walki’s expertise in multilaminates provides a solid base for our production of barrier board, lining materials and flexible materials.
Walki has developed a range of barrier boards specially designed for the folding carton market. By using barrier boards the need for inner wrapping for foodstuffs is largely reduced. Thereby also the amount of packaging needed is reduced, with a positive environmental impact as a consequence. Barrier board is typically used for applications for direct food contact and for non-food packages in end-use sectors like frozen food, fresh food, non food, detergent, pet food, menu trays and lids, cosmetic, beverages and tobacco.
The barrier lining materials are developed and optimised for the solid board, corrugated board and honeycomb. Our barrier coated and laminated materials are used for protecting packed products, reducing waste and improving functionality as well as creating appeal for the final product.
In our flexible packaging materials paper is combined with materials such as plastic or aluminium foil to meet the most demanding requirements of protection, hygiene, preservation time and sustainability.
