Boutwell, Owens and Co., Inc. has committed to purchasing 100% of the energy needs for its manufacturing plants through wind power. Through a partnership with Renewable Choice, to secure both wind power as well as carbon offset credits, the company has undertaken a greenhouse gas study to calculate its carbon footprint as it moves towards a goal of carbon neutrality.

Boutwell has already been solvent-free for two decades running only aqueous coatings. Furthermore, it is alcohol free in its press room and runs predominately vegetable based inks, all of which are good for the environment.

Sustainability at Boutwell, Owens and Co was not introduced because of environmental business trends, rather business at the company has been conducted in such a way for over two decades because it is safer for employees as well as being better for the environment.

Boutwell has been a market leader in the manufacturing of packaging that uses environmentally friendly recycled paperboard and is also currently third party certified to offer sustainable paperboard resources in order to provide its clients with the optimum in sustainability solutions.
