Neopac reduces CO2 emissions by 720 tonnes a year

Neopac has recently formed a partnership with the Heizwerk Oberdiessbach heating plant (HEWO). Through its connection to HEWO, Neopac is reducing its CO² emissions considerably and making a significant contribution to sustainable climate protection.

Since Switzerland failed to meet its target for CO² emissions, there has been a significant increase seen in CO² tax on furnace oil. For Neopac that was the deciding factor to seriously consider "green" alternatives and to move to ecological district heating.

Heizwerk Oberdiessbach's district heating network works like a large central heating system. The various individual heating plants have been replaced by one single plant; a system which saves an enormous amount of energy, as well as reduces transportation and service costs. Heat is produced using renewable energy from the surrounding forests and waste wood.

After two years of intensive planning and installation work, HEWO is now heating all of Neopac's buildings, as well as its water. This is reducing Neopac's CO2 emissions by a remarkable 720 tonnes a year.

Head of Infrastructure, Andreas Bigler, says of the project:

"This partnership did not incur any costs for Neopac and has enabled us to contribute to sustainable environmental protection."
