Packaging Innovations, Luxury Packaging and ADF London 2018, the UK’s most exclusive packaging event, returns to London Olympia next month (12- 13 September) showcasing the most cutting-edge developments and technologies from right across the industry.

With over half of the 180 exhibitors planning to launch new products and services live at the show, it is set to be the most innovative edition to date. For instance:

  • DS Smith Packaging Consumer will unveil its new packaging for the GlenAllachie Scotch Whisky range, which recreates the natural look and feel of rocks
  • Alexir Partnership is launching new carton and film alternatives to plastic, as well Ovenable Halopack
  • IPL Packaging will reveal its Emmy Award’s Sterling Iridium packs
  • Vetroplas Packaging will present its new collection of aluminium cans and closures, along with its new foamer - Velvet
  • Inospray will present Dityspray, a new economical dispensing system for liquid or viscous products
  • Gruppo Cordenons will use the show as the European launch of Astropremium, a premium white paper for printed publications, catalogues, brochures and packaging
  • Satimat will introduce its new digital printing using inkjet heads, which allows bottles to be decorated in an array of chosen colours, in just one take, with impressive speed

  • YRG Group will be running live demonstrations on how it produces 3D packaging mock-ups and 3D animation for all packaging types

Packaging affects the senses!

It’s official, when it comes to packaging, we have lost our senses. New research suggests that our sense of taste, smell and even feel is directly affected by the packaging a product comes in. In a unique trial, otherwise identical products were rated 35% better overall, simply due to the packaging they were associated with. For instance, perfume was thought to smell 60% nicer and wine tasted 53% better and consumers thought a t-shirt felt 10% more superior, simply if it came in a higher quality pack. The impact of the packaging over senses was so high that people were prepared to pay, on average, nearly three times the price for identical products.
