At the 12th annual Rexam Supplier Awards, Rexam, a leading global beverage can maker, brought together 75 suppliers from 47 different companies to recognise accomplishments and innovations that have been key in driving growth and success within the beverage can industry.

AkzoNobel were the big winners of the night and were declared 'Supplier of the Year' for their collaborative approach to developing a global partnership with Rexam that is underpinned with comprehensive local plant support. Nominated across a number of award categories, AkzoNobel has continuously delivered a superior product and supported Rexam's efforts towards the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

The Excellence Award for Quality also went to AkzoNobel, who have consistently supplied outstanding product quality throughout their six-year partnership with Rexam. Their quick response to requests was noted, as was their unwavering support for individual plants on a daily basis.

Rexam awarded Sandvik with the accolade of 'The Rexam Way Award', which is given to suppliers who demonstrate the core Rexam values of Trust, Teamwork, Continuous Improvement, Recognition and Safety. Although this prize is not always awarded, Rexam was impressed by Sandvik's constant enthusiasm and alignment with their own core values over the last twelve months.

Nominated by a number of plants, Henkel took the Excellence Award for Supply, by demonstrating their dependable and punctual delivery of projects as well as their reliability in facing challenges head-on.

Actega completed the evening of successes with their Award for Excellence in Cost through implementing cost savings which were six-times higher than their target.

Alex Jennings, Chief Procurement Officer for Rexam, said:

"In 2014, we were honoured to work with suppliers who, once again, went above and beyond to enable us to deliver cost-effective, sustainable and innovative beverage packaging. Together with our suppliers, we share a common goal and mission: to delight our customers with the perfect can, every time.

Our suppliers have a significant impact on the can-making process across many touch points and these awards are recognition of their endeavours and achievements in delivering the same level of value and quality to Rexam, that our customers expect from us. We pride ourselves on the collaborative relationships we have with our suppliers and appreciate the efforts they go to in order to consistently perform across all areas of our Supplier Excellence Programme."
