Tasks & responsibilities

As Senior Global Sourcing Manager, you develop the sourcing strategy for the assigned global sourcing area for NCEs (New Chemical Entity) and NBEs (New Biological Entity) in line with our global strategy.
You support the category head in determining how to leverage key organizational capabilities in order to accomplish and implement critical, long-term category strategies within Scientific Laboratory & Quality Services.
Additionally, you run the sourcing, negotiation and contracting activities, within assigned range to achieve strategic and operational success for our company.
In your new role you manage risk, especially identification, evaluation, classification of sourcing risks and devise risk mitigation measures in order to ensure continuity of supply.
Furthermore, you work independently within a network across category in a complex environment and lead virtual project teams in a matrix organization.
You keep abreast of trends with the market within the industry in order to drive innovation.
In this function, you run best-in-class global (key) supplier management processes within assigned categories.
Moreover, you build effective internal business partner relationships to identify saving potentials to optimize global spend.

Qualifications, Experience, Requirements

Degree (Bachelor or Master) in chemistry, biology or pharmacology with an additional business education or degree (Bachelor or Master) in business education with a strong knowledge of pharmaceutical research and development processes
Minimum of 4 years of contracting/ sourcing /purchasing experience in non-clinical development, clinical development and/ or research services in international markets
Strong knowledge of the global CRO (Contract Research Organization) market for pharmaceutical development and/ or research services
Experience in the demands and the negotiation of complex "Fee for Service" contracts
General understanding of research and development processes, intellectual property and compliance issues as well as legal terms
Strong communication, change management and leadership skills
Global and intercultural working experience and willingness for international business trips

Language Skills

A very good command of English and German; additional language skills would be a plus
