Promotional campaigns that are featured on packaging can be extremely varied. They include, for example, references to giveaways inside, prize coupons, stickers or SMS text message competitions. The advantage for the consumer is clear: His interest is immediately satisfied by purchasing the product.
For the manufacturer, there is a whole range of benefits: The packaging plays the role of “silent seller”, the sale of all products is significantly boosted, the brand strengthened and costs kept within tight limits. Feedback from consumers is also fast, straightforward and efficient, for example in SMS-based competitions.

One successful example of customized promotion packaging which Afripack was involved in is the limited edition of collection stickers on the rear of the wrap-around label on bottles of a well-known energy drink.
Pictures of rugby players were printed on two different versions of labels. The amazing green and gold effects were achieved using a 7-color print on a 47 µm metalized BOPP film. As the exact positioning of the sticker was critical to the success of the project (1 mm tolerance), Afripack printed a corresponding marking on the bottom of the label, so that the sticker was always applied reliably and accurately. The result was a fascinating label of outstanding print quality on the shelves, which increased total sales well beyond all expectations. It’s a way of connecting branded products to major events - regardless of whether they’re about sport, culture or other highlights.
Another measure to also set standards in the area of promotional packaging was implemented with the assistance of Afripack for one of the largest multinational corporations with a strong presence in South Africa.
For the “Out of the blue” promotion, competition stickers were used on rigid and flexible ice cream packaging. The stickers could be peeled off to reveal the unique winning number and the possibility to redeem a prize printed on the rear. With this promotional packaging campaign the brand owner covered its full product range for the very first time.
