ProAmpac, a leader in flexible packaging and material science, celebrated the 2022 American Inhouse Design Awards™ with a win for flexible inverted tube packaging (pictured). This unique packaging design was created by ProAmpac’s Design and Sample Lab (DASL) Team, located in Rochester, NY at the company’s Collaboration and Innovation Center (CIC).

Graphic Design USA (GDUSA), a magazine and information resource for graphic design professionals, hosted the 59th American Inhouse Design Awards™.

“This is such great recognition of ProAmpac’s leadership in package design. Our CIC and DASL teams continue to design and develop solutions that are manufacturable, provide convenience and functionality while reducing materials and designing for a more circular economy,” states Sal Pellingra, vice president global package design, applications and business development.

Developed to support health and personal care brands and liquid food products, these inverted tubes were designed to reduce virgin materials by transitioning rigid bottles to flexible packaging. The inverted tube uses the benefits of gravity combined with the ease of emptying flexible packaging to enhance consumer convenience and reduce product waste for liquid food and personal care applications. Additionally, the unique flip-top is designed to hold the weight of the filled pouch as a flat base to ensure the package can remain upright as product is emptied overtime.

“DASL gives ProAmpac’s customers the unique opportunity to design, evaluate and trial innovative packaging on both filling machines and in use,” shares Nicole Cocuzzi, Collaboration and Innovation Center manager. “DASL is capable of producing commercial-ready samples for our customers to not only test the look and feel of the package, but also to test the packaging and product using the CIC resources – like drop tests, shelf stability, barrier, end-use filling machines, our kitchen and more – to ensure the product performs how its envisioned from concept to store shelf to the consumer’s home.”
