Trivium Packaging joined forces with On Us Water and SERVPRO® Team Dobson to support the 14th annual Panerathon, a 10-kilometer Walk/Run event and 2-mile (3.2 kilometers) Kids Run held in downtown Youngstown. The event welcomed thousands of runners who participated to raise funds and awareness for patients with breast cancer. This initiative, which has raised $3.5 million in the last 13 years, benefits the Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley, supporting life-saving services at the only breast care facility in the area.
All hands on deck
As an important member of the Youngstown community, Trivium supports the annual event, but this year, we stepped it up. Together with our partners, we produced around 15,000 unique bottles and distributed them during the race, helping everyone stay hydrated and making the race more sustainable by using metal packaging instead of single-use plastic.
Why it matters
We believe that small actions can create a big impact, and supporting Panerathon shows our commitment to the local communities we serve. "The custom bottle we created is from people that work here in the Youngstown area and are part of the community every day," says Michael Wood, Plant Manager in Youngstown. "It represents that we want to be involved and we are proud of what we do."
Together on the track
We were also proud to have 98 of our colleagues in Youngstown participate in the event, which is more than double from last year. Melanie Arnio, Human Resources Manager in Youngstown, says: "Our event planning committee helped us show that the Trivium family is proud of doing our part in raising awareness towards breast cancer research. We blissfully support our local community."
It takes a team
We would like to extend our thanks to all participants, volunteers, organizers, and partners. Initiatives like these make real change possible. Together, we can make the world a little better, one step at a time.
