For 10 years Albéa has been committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). That means improving our environmental, social and economic activities worldwide, for all of our employees and stakeholders, in all of the communities where we operate. We pledge that our company's growth means responsibility and helps to improve the world we live in.

Many programs have been set up that reflect this commitment and our will to go further. The World Environment Day is one of them.

For the past 5 years World Environment Day (WED) has been celebrated across Albéa. In 2014 over 4,000 employees took part in more than 100 community actions carried out on our 38 sites. Here are some of them:

    Learning about the environment

Brainstorming and quiz sessions were organized in Shanghai and Zhongshan (China), Baddi (India), Surabaya (Indonesia) and Gennevilliers (France) to raise employees’ awareness of their activities’ social and environmental impact and how to limit it.

    Reducing waste by sorting

Various sorting and recycling systems have been set up. Several units in Brazil (Jundiai and Mogi) and Canada (Brampton) swapped plastic cups for ceramic ones. Tidy-up days were organized in Gennevilliers (France) and Goa (India), with 4 tons of 'surplus' materials collected.

    Workplace wellbeing

Gymnastics and workplace wellbeing lessons were organized in Reynosa (Mexico), Schesslitz (Germany) and China. The rest area in Colchester (UK) was upgraded.

    Reducing our carbon footprint

The Verderio (Italy) and Lodz (Poland) sites set up carpooling systems and bicycle parks to reduce their carbon footprint.

    Protecting nature

Surabaya (Indonesia) and New York (USA) planted trees and removed litter from public gardens.

Sharing and taking action with communities

Our teams in Reynosa (Mexico) and Semarang (Indonesia) helped to renovate schools; those in Alkmaar (Netherlands) renovated a social center; Lodz (Poland) organized collections of childrens books, toys and clothing; people in Shelbyville (USA) and Surabaya (Indonesia) gave blood.

The Schesslitz (Germany) plant organised a tour of the production site for young female students to raise their awareness of industrial professions.

WED is an opportunity for everyone at Albéa to rally round our environment and our communities. The program was set up in 2009 and is part of the People & Communities pillar of our 2015-2020 Corporate Social Responsibility roadmap. We want all our people to be safe and feel engaged; we want our communities to benefit from all our everyday industrial and commercial activities.
