The phenomenon of "Korean Beauty", just like the MakeUp in Seoul show, is steadily gaining momentum. The third edition of the trade show, which will take place on 6 and 7 April at the Conrad Hotel, will gather 20% more exhibitors. Figures speak for themselves! Korea is currently the fourth largest Asian market in terms of cosmetics. The country is also the world's largest per capita skincare consumer while local brands recorded in recent months a sharp rise of their export sales.
Korea is a very popular country! And what's more, this phenomenon appears to grow stronger with each passing year. A proof of this, the success of masks and CC creams coming from this country. And, according to experts, this craze is expected to further increase in 2016. Macy's, the U.S. chain of department stores recently opened a shop dedicated to "K-beauty" – Made in Korea beauty, in partnership with Peach & Lily in its Queens store in New York.
You should see all the Chinese consumers crowding the department stores in Seoul every weekend, and who then fly back on Sunday evenings with kilos (literally speaking) of Korean cosmetic products in their luggage. An "affluence" that is the specificity of MakeUp in Seoul, where, in its first year, 2000 visitors had crowded the aisles of the Conrad Hotel during the two days of the event. And last year, 27% of the 2300 visitors had come from "abroad", mainly from Japan and of course, China.
It is only normal, given the fact that in addition to visitor's attraction for Korean subcontractors in terms of formulation and the skills of packaging companies, visiting Seoul couldn't be easier. The country is just as open as any Western country. By plane, Seoul is only two hours from Shanghai, Tokyo, Taiwan and three hours from Hong Kong.
And then, everyone agrees on the fact that it's the place where things happen!
